Assignment Desk

Help us find
the next File.

The Assignment Desk is for historical questions, local memories, archive pointers, source leads, and claims worth checking. Audience demand can raise research priority; it never raises evidence confidence.

Submission state: this route is live, but the intake backend is not yet accepting public submissions. We are not putting up a form that can lose evidence, leak personal information, or pretend to submit when the moderation/privacy pipeline is not connected. The page stays noindex until that real flow is proven.

Historical question

A specific question you want investigated—not just a broad subject. Strong questions make the evidence testable.

Source lead

An archive collection, court record, newspaper, photograph, map, oral-history collection, government file, or other trail we should examine.

Local memory

A story tied to a town, county, neighborhood, institution, road, building, family, workplace, or landscape that may have a surviving record.

Claim worth checking

A recurring historical assertion, screenshot, quotation, viral story, conspiracy claim, or disputed interpretation with a precise proposition.

A lead opens a door. A receipt changes the case.
Every submission still has to survive source, rights, sensitivity, duplication, and evidence review.
